Support Groups

At MESA, we are dedicated to providing ongoing support for survivors of sexual violence. Our support groups offer a safe and confidential space where survivors can find community, healing, and empowerment. These groups are facilitated by experienced professionals who are trained to understand the unique challenges of recovering from sexual violence.

We organize support groups throughout the year to meet the diverse needs of survivors. Each group provides a unique opportunity to connect with others who understand the trauma of sexual assault and are committed to working on themselves as they continue their healing journey. Whether you are seeking a place to feel heard, looking for empathy and understanding, or hoping to find strategies for coping and healing, our support groups are here for you.

Upcoming 2026 Healing Together Support Groups for Women

MESA is pleased to announce that our next Healing Together Support Group for women will begin in January 2026. This will be a 10-week, in-person program designed specifically for adult women who experienced sexual assault as adults. Participants must be at least 18 years of age.

So often, survivors look for a place where they can feel seen, heard, supported, and not alone. Many describe carrying messages from family, friends, society, or even their own internal voice that make healing feel harder. The Healing Together Support Group was created to address these communication barriers and to offer a safe and steady space where survivors can explore their experiences among others who understand.

Throughout the 10 weeks, participants will reflect on themes that commonly shape a survivor’s healing process, including shame, self-blame, boundaries, relationships, and the impact of internalized messages. The group provides genuine support, structured reflection, and opportunities to connect in community. This program has been thoughtfully developed over the last two years by MESA staff and continues to evolve based on the needs of survivors in our community.

  • Attendance Expectations: To support the integrity of the group process and to ensure continuity for all members, participants must be able to attend all 10 sessions.
  • Required Screening: A phone screen with the group facilitators is required prior to acceptance into the group. Because our support groups fill quickly, completing the phone screen and expressing interest does not guarantee a place in the group.

How to Express Interest

If you would like to be considered for the upcoming group, please email us at [email protected] with the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number
  • Confirmation that you can attend all 10 weeks

If you have questions or would like help determining if this group is a good fit for you, please reach out. We would be happy to talk with you.

How to Join Future Groups

If you are interested in joining one of our support groups, please email our advocacy team at [email protected] with your name, phone number, and the type of group you are seeking (e.g., women, teens, men, LGBTQ+). This helps us place you in a group that best suits your needs when we are organizing for these specific groups.

Next Steps

When a support group is scheduled, we will reach out to everyone on our interest list with the details, including the proposed days and times. You can then let us know if you are interested in that specific group and we will set up a phone screening. The screening helps ensure that the group is a good fit for you and that you understand what participation entails. Given the high level of interest, it is important that those selected can fully commit to attending all sessions.

Questions?

If you have any questions about our support groups or how to join, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you every step of the way.
